What is Technical Earth?

In electrical engineering, earth or ground is a reference point in an electrical circuit from which voltages are measured, return path for stray electric current, or a direct physical connection to the ground. In professional A/V systems, the technical earth or technical ground is the point to which all equipment is grounded. In most cases a separate technical earth source is established specifically for grounding delicate electronics in order to avoid many potential issues such as, line noise from other equipment, ground loops, and signal interference, which may present when using the standard AC safety ground, which is bonded to neutral.

Technical Earth Founder, Zack Phillips, has 20 years of experience in Pro A/V, working in recording studios, production rooms, and live music venues, originally as a recording and mixing engineer and later as a studio tech and system Integrator. Zack has been deeply immersed in music and multi-media creation and approaches projects through the lens of an operator first and foremost. While Technical Earth is proud to offer a wide variety of electrical and low voltage services, we are profoundly committed to providing highly specialized service and support to the Pro A/V sector.
